How to Use the Workout App on Your Apple Watch

Published

I use the Workout app on my Apple Watch Series 8 whenever it’s time for me to go out and exercise, and it helpful because it gives me access to tools I can use to get the most out of my workout sessions.

The Workout app on Apple Watch is easy to use. You pick an activity, engage in the exercise, and get relevant metrics directly on your Apple Watch. Moreover, you get a full breakdown of your workout history in the Apple Fitness app on your iPhone.

Start a Workout

Apple Watch Workout app features an array of health and fitness exercises, including Core Training, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Boxing, Functional Strength Training, and Elliptical, and sports activities such as Basketball, Baseball, and Tennis.

To choose a fitness exercise or sports activity, press the Digital Crown, open the Workout app, find and tap an exercise, and then wait for the three-second countdown to begin the workout. Alternatively, tap the “Add Workout” button if you can’t find your preferred exercise.

As you exercise, the Workout app will monitor different health and fitness metrics such as your heart rate, calories burned, distance covered, and time.

Keep Fit With Gym Equipment

Apple gives you the option to synchronize fitness data from Apple Watch compatible equipment such astreadmill, indoor bikes, and elliptical machines, allowing you to get reliable information about your exercise on any of these devices.

For example, it’s possible to connect Apple Watch to Peloton, track your performance on the bike, and sync your data from the device to the watch.

What Are The Best Workout App Alternatives?

Some of the best health and fitness apps you can use on your Apple Watch instead of the native Workout app are Calm, Happier, Headspace, Strava, MapMyRun, Lifesum, Pocket Yoga, and Nike Training Club.

In term of functionality and performance, these apps detect, measure, and log different wellness metrics, which include heart rate, body temperature, step count, and blood oxygen.
